The Hemet Library Foundation has established an endowment fund with The Community Foundation Serving Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. This fund enables the Foundation to receive gifts from donors who wish to preserve the principle and use only the interest which those funds generate. It also enables the Library to receive gifts of life insurance, securities, U.S. saving bonds, annuity contracts and tangible property. The Community Foundation can be reached at 951-684-4194.

The Susan Ozubko Memorial Collection was established to honor a Board Member. Susan passed away in 2003 shortly after the opening of the new library. Susan Ozubko was a librarian in the Bay Area of San Francisco who moved to Hemet with her husband Gene and became a valued member of the Foundation. The first order of Books by the Foot was officially presented to the Library during Children’s Week in November 2006. Over 380, approximately 12 feet, were added to the children’s book collection on subjects from ‘How To Draw Animals’ to ‘World History’. The Foundation realizes that books in he children’s section are well loved and need to be replaced on a regular basic. Donations to the Susan Ozubko Memorial Books by the Foot, is an ongoing program of the Foundation to satisfy the needs for children’s books at the Hemet Public Library.

Leave a Legacy “ I bequeath (description of Property) to the Hemet Library Foundation, a not-for-profit charitable organization in Hemet, CA. We all have occasion to talk with people about why they haven’t made or updated their wills and trusts. The answer is : I just haven’t gotten around to it. No wonder we put off that task. It means thinking about a time that is almost unthinkable - a time beyond our own lifetime. It means making some of the most difficult decisions we will ever have to make and making them for the good of a future we can only guess at. But, if we don’t make the decisions ourselves - about how to allocate our assets following death - then the decisions will be made for us. Better that we consider now which people and which causes we would like to benefit from the fruits of our labor in this life. As you do the work of planning your estate, we hope you will consider the Hemet public Library - by way of the Hemet Library Foundation -as an organization worthy of a bequest. If you love libraries and value their place in our community, you may want to ‘leave a legacy’ that will help us to meet the needs of future generations of readers. For inspiration look at Edward H. and Carol G. LaSalle who bequeathed a million dollar endowment to the library and Juanita Thomas who bequeathed $25,000 to the children’s area through The Foundation.
